What is a passport photo maker?

A passport photo maker is an app or web tool that transforms a standard digital selfie into a government-compliant photo. It automatically crops, adjusts head tilt, resizes, and replaces the background to meet strict biometric rules.

Is my data safe with Phoklik?

Completely safe! All uploaded photos and processed files are automatically deleted after 72 hours. We do not retain biometric templates or face measurements, and we never sell or share your images. Phoklik strictly complies with all the US regulations.

Can I take a selfie?

We don't recommend standard selfies. Taking a photo at arm’s length distorts facial proportions and often fails official head-size requirements.

Better alternative: Ask someone to take it from 4–6 feet away, or prop your phone at eye level and use a hands-free camera timer.

What background do I need?

Background requirements vary by document—for example, plain white for US and Indian documents, or light gray for Schengen visas and the UK. Your selected document page will show the exact color needed.

Tip: While our AI automatically replaces your background, taking your photo against a plain, evenly lit wall gives the most natural, seamless result.

Can I wear glasses or a head covering?

Glasses:
Strictly forbidden for US, India, Canada, and China. Where allowed, ensure zero glare, reflection, or tinted lenses.
Head Coverings:
Permitted for religious or medical reasons, as long as your full face (chin to forehead) and facial perimeter are clearly visible.

Pro Tip: Removing glasses beforehand is the safest way to guarantee zero lens-glare rejections.
